WELCOME TO FLORIDA WITH THE KIDS

We are the Johnson family from North London. David is the dad and a website developer, Mary is the mum and a nurse – our children are Oliver (aged 7) who loves football and Alice (aged 4) who wants to be a ballerina when she grows up!

Just after Easter, in April 2005, with the excuse of David’s 40th birthday, we went to Florida for 18 days – our first big family holiday. It was a reasonably complicated trip to organise as we flew to Miami, flew back from Orlando, hired a car, stayed at 3 different hotels and condos and also did the whole Disney thing at Walt Disney World.

After spending hours and hours planning the trip and then having the most fantastic time when we actually went to Florida we thought it would be great to share what we had discovered through a website (lucky David does this for a living!) in the hope that it might help others thinking about a similar trip.

Our itinerary was:

• Fly from Heathrow to Miami with Virgin Airways
• 2 days in Miami, staying at Best Western, Bal Harbor, Miami
• 1 day in the Everglades and Naples
• 4 days at Siesta Key, staying at Siesta Key Bungalows
• 11 days in Orlando, staying at Bahama Bay Resort
• Fly back from Orlando to Gatwick
